American Production Company Enters Bhojpuri Film Market
PUN Films, a joint venture with American Production company, has entered the Indian film market and launched the production of their maiden Bhojpuri Film. This Indo-US joint venture has produced seven films in the US including award winning films like "Fortune Teller" and "Trauma." Their mission is to bring new techniques and technologies to Bhojpuri film making, which includes digital cinematography and special effects.
PUN Films' first Bhojpuri production, which is yet to be titled, has Ravi Kishan in the lead with Nirmal Pandey playing the villian opposite him. The female lead is Shikha, who has already appeared in two hit Bhojpuri films. The other cast includes well known Bhojpuri actors such as Komal, Seema Singh, Nilima Singh, Brajesh Tripathi, Vinod Mishra, Shameem Khan, and Phool Singh, among others.
The film will be directed by experienced FTII graduate, Dhiraj Singh, who has worked earlier with Ram Gopal Verma. Music is by Rajesh-Rajneesh, Song by Vinay Bihari, Screenplay and Dialogues by Surendra Mishra, Action-Choreography by R P Yadav, Choreography by Rikky Master and Ram Dewan. For the first time in the history of Bhojpuri film making, new digital cinematography techniques will be used in the making of this film using RED-ONE camera by award winning cinematographer, Dhirendra Shukla. Film's production team will be headed by Javed Siddiqui who has earlier handled several hindi film productions in Bollywood.
Tejaswi Kadam, who has directed several films in America including "Fortune Teller," which won the award at Indo-American Film Festival in Atlanta, USA, in 2006, and has deep experience with digital special effects, will be the associate director. The team of Assistant Directors will be steered by Shailendra Kumar Singh, a well-known directorial talent from the Bhojpuri industry. The post production team will include specialists from American film industry. The producers of PUN Films are very excited with this venture and claim that this film will set a trend for quality films and raise the production value of films in the Bhojpuri Industry. PUN Films is keen to expand the distribution of Bhojpuri films in the international market such as Carribean, Mauritius, Netherlands, etc.
The first shooting schedule commenced with a grand Muhurat at Rajpipla on 14th January, on the auspicious day of Makar Sankranti. The second schedule will be shot in Film City, Goregaon, Mumbai, in the first week of February. This "total action entertainer" is due to hit the screen around April-May 2010 time-frame. PUN Films has also announced two more Bhojpuri films - the next one is a musical entertainer and the third one, a suspence thriller, the other two films are also scheduled to hit the screen in 2010.
